Romiley – Driveway and Seating

New Driveway and Screened Seating Area in Romiley, Stockport

This front garden at St Chad’s in Romiley, Stockport featured sunken and damaged block paving and a derelict garden pond that was no longer working before we began our latest garden transformation. We constructed a new heavy duty driveway using a wacked MOT base and Indian Stone in a random design laid on a solid sand/cement mortar bed.

We installed a sunken drain cover over the existing sewer inspection pit with a matching inlaid flag to blend in with the rest of the driveway and make it inconspicuous. The driveway was also resin-pointed, which makes a very strong seal between the flags that will not shrink or crack like ordinary sand and cement pointing. We also transformed a large area of unused space into a pleasant screened seating area with a timber constructed shelter, random stepping stones for access, all finished with a weed proof membrane and a layer of 20mm Gold Coast gravel to give the finishing touches seen in the photos below.
